About PeaksKorea
Plan your hike with clearer information.
PeaksKorea is an English-language site about hiking mountains in South Korea. It currently covers 30 mountain guides across Seoul, Gangwon, Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Gyeongsang, Jeolla and Jeju.
The aim is narrow on purpose: bring the things you actually weigh before a hike — which route, how long, how hard, how you get to the trailhead, and whether anything needs booking — into one place that is easy to compare.
What you’ll find
Coverage varies by mountain. Each guide includes what the sources support, and nothing is filled in to make a page look complete.
- Route options, with distance, duration and difficulty
- Trailheads and how to reach them
- Permits or reservations, where they apply
- Safety notes for the conditions a route actually presents
- Frequently asked questions
- The sources each guide draws on
How we handle information
Each guide is written from published sources, and those sources are listed on the page so you can follow them yourself. Key figures carry the date they were last checked.
Some of the most important details change: seasonal access windows, reservation rules, closures after weather damage, bus timetables. Treat what you read here as preparation, and check the relevant park or transport announcement again shortly before you go.
Course diagrams on this site are route overviews for reference. They show main points along a route. They are not turn-by-turn navigation, and they should not be used in place of a map or signage on the mountain.
Photography and sources
Where a photograph is used, its origin, credit and licence are checked before it goes on the page. Photographs are there to show a place, not to stand in as evidence for a figure or a rule — those come from the cited sources.
What PeaksKorea is not
- Not a park authority, and not a substitute for park announcements
- Not an emergency service
- Not a turn-by-turn navigation service
